Appeal for help with the Water Action Embassy on the steps of Parliament House
Dear Supporters of Fresh Water issues.
The Fresh Water Embassy held watch at Clayton while the regulator (dam) was being built, every day for eight weeks. During that time we averaged 50 people a day, more on weekends. See
www.hurrysavethemurray.com
We brought the Embassy to the steps of Parliament House for two weeks in December, to tell the state and federal politicians we are not going away. We have handed out 10 000 leaflets inviting people to consider the issues and to contact their politicians to ask about their position on these issues before the state election (20 March).
We are declaring by our presence that WATER is the major issue for this election and state, not a phony law and order campaign.
We plan to run the Embassy each week from Tuesday til Friday, from 11 – 1pm, until the election. We also plan to have at least one media event each week. Stay posted.
We have T-shirts, banners, photographs, maps, art, songs to display with our message, and leaflets to hand out.
During December we found people were interested and supportive. We had a great time.
The various member groups of the Water Action Coalition (WAC) have offered to help run the Embassy during the lead-up to the election. They are
ACT Australian Civic Trust
BC Brownhill Creek
CCC CuttlefishCoastCoalition
CCSA Conservation Council ofSouth Australia
CPRA CheltenhamParkResidents Association
FoE Friends of Earth (SA)
FGSV Friends Gulf St Vincent
LWA Land &WaterAustralia
SOGC Save Our Gulf Coalition
RLCAG River Lakesand Coorong Action Group
WACRA Western AdelaideCoastal Residents Association
We need about four people each session. If you can contribute time (don’t worry if you are not across all the issues, we will give you back-up) please email me. You may be able to do a weekly or fortnightly session, or only one – every bit of help is acceptable.
Please think about forming a group of friends to come with you. SA’s future is in our hands. The River, Lakes Alexandrina and Albert , and the Coorong are at catastrophic state. Make the leaders pay attention to put the ecology first. Now is the time for people power.
Let others know we are there and send them along. Let your local newspapers and schools now we are there. Get your networks working for Fresh Water solutions. Send people to the website.
Thank you for your help in the past. Thank you for your continuing support.

Water Action Embassy on the steps of Parliament House - starting December 2nd
The Lower Lakes and Coorong Group and supported by the Water Action Coalition is organising a Embassy to take place on the Steps of Parliament House from Tuesday 2nd December and will be open from 11am to 2pm each week day until further notice.
The Embassy will be running a different theme each day providing all communities the opportunity to demonstate and educate.
One of the primary objectives is to make the Politicians listen, to take notice and to take action.
You are encouraged to take part in the Embassy as we need people who are active in their community and believe that WATER is a key issue. You are encouraged to bring along your community Group Banner or Flag or make up a Placard of your own and join in the protest. Depending on numbers we are hoping to initiate some minor activities in strategic places in the City.

If you are available to help, please notify Diane Bell and Ruth Trigg who are responsible for organising the actions and roster for each day.
If you are able to spend some time at the Embassy your support will be greatly appreciated.
