Henley Hub
Urgent Appeal for Monday 27th April 2009
This is a call to all members who have a interest in the future of the services and location of the Henley Community Hub to attend a deputation presented by Jim Douglas and Richard Smith on behalf of WACRA to a full Council meeting on Monday 27th April at 7pm at the Council Chambers Woodville Road Woodville..
Recently you would have received in your letter box or read in the Weekly Times Messenger that the Charles Sturt Council are proposing a Community Hub to be located as part of the Henley War Memorial and Town Hall site. The Memorial and Town Hall is State Heritage Listed and a significant building.
The proposal provided you with three [3] building formation options to consider and any additional comment.
WACRA is concerned about many aspects of the proposal:
a) There has never been a needs analysis conducted of the residents.
b) The significance to retain the War Memorial and Town Hall as a single standing heritage site.
c) Do any of us know if this site is the most effective and will meet the long term needs of community.
d) The Henley Square Development Master Plan has not been considered as part of the proposal.
e) Altered traffic consequences have not been factored in as a result of new developments at Henley Square and near by locations.
f) The Henley Wood workers will be without a home if Council sells the total Henley Depot site.
g) The RSL have indicated strongly that they are not prepared to relocate.
And much more.
WE KNOW YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR FUTURE. PLEASE COME ALONG AND GIVE WACRA AND THE BROADER COMMUNITY YOUR SUPPORT.
IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
